Gibson Invited to Youth Justice Symposium
Dr. Camille Gibson, interim head of the juvenile justice doctoral program, has been tapped to share her juvenile justice expertise with Trinidad and Tobago.
Gibson has been invited by the Ministry of Justice in Trinidad and Tobago to serve in an advisory capacity as the nation attempts to reform its juvenile justice system and polices. She will be participating in a Youth Justice Symposium in October in the capital city of Port of Spain. She will address best practices in delinquency prevention and response in the United States and Jamaica, mental health issues, youth court and youth probation.
In 2010-2011, Gibson was also a part of a team that included persons from North Carolina Central University and Prairie View A&M University that served in an advisory capacity to the Children's Advocate Office in Jamaica.
