MSM to Host American Psychiatric Association’s  Community Knowledge Exchange

The American Psychiatric Association (APA)https://www.psychiatry.org/, in partnership with local community-academic-public stakeholder groups, will lead a community discussion on children’s mental health and criminal justice issues Saturday, May 14, at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM).

Titled "Community Knowledge Exchange: Hope for Our Children and Communities," the event will be held 1-4 p.m. at the Louis W. Sullivan National Center for Primary Care at MSM. A networking reception and resource fair will follow the discussion.

Saturday's exchange will present local challenges and highlight pockets of excellence in order to engage a diverse group of leaders and advocates to promote collective action.

Coalition driven and led, the event will showcase and build on ongoing initiatives, educate the public and APA membership on key opportunities for progress, and equip participants to more effectively collaborate by convening local and national experts and thought leaders. The APA is proud to launch this event in its 2016 Annual Meeting host city of Atlanta.

In addition to the panel presentation, APA President Dr. Renee Binder and representatives from the Carter Centerhttp://www.cartercenter.org/index.html and the Satcher Health Leadership Institutehttp://satcherinstitute.org/ at MSM, are slated to provide remarks.

Seating is limited. Visit MSM’s event page for more information.http://calendar.msm.edu/cal/event/eventView.do?b=de&calPath=%2Fpublic%2Fcals%2FMainCal&guid=CAL-8a8785a4-53b6e2e4-0153-c2cf709b-0000683ddemobedework@mysite.edu&recurrenceId=
