Concordia Awarded $50,000 Mission Grant from the LWML

Concordia College was awarded a $50,000 mission grant from the Lutheran Women's Missionary League at their 35th Biennial Convention in Pittsburgh last month.

The grant, one of 18 awarded for a total of $1.83 million, is for "Preparing Leaders for a Diverse World" and provides funds for materials, training and recruitment of students for undergraduate and future pre-seminary classes to serve in Lutheran churches, schools and preschool programs.

"We are extremely grateful for the women of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and their long history focusing on mission," said Concordia President, Rev. Dr. Tilahun Mendedo. "We are proud to partner with them in raising up leaders for the Church, schools and service to the community."

The mission funds will be raised by LWML members across the country over the next two years to support the grants. "The LWML has existed for 71 years and by God's grace will continue to thrive because we, quenced by the water and the Word will do God's work in God's time in God's way, " said LWML President Kay Kreklau of Drayton, ND.

Concordia staff, students and Regents attended the convention, under the theme "Quenched! by the Water," based on John 4:14, sharing the Concordia story and making new friends across the country.
