FSU Tops in North Carolina for Online Courses

Fayetteville State University (FSU) has been cited as the top institution in North Carolina for the affordability and quality of its online course offerings.

AffordableCollegesOnline.org (AC Online) recently analyzed online degree programs from more than 2,000 accredited colleges and universities across the nation. According to its research, FSU offers an exceptional collection of distance learning options at a very affordable price. This combination of quality, affordability, and flexibility earned your college a place on our list of the Online Colleges in North Carolina That Win on Affordability.

"Fayetteville State University is proud to offer online degree completion programs that provide educational access and opportunities to students seeking a high quality, flexible and affordable education," said Dr. Bonnie Grohe, Interim Director of Faculty Development at FSU. "We train and support faculty in enhancing and maintaining their online course development and teaching skills, and we prepare and support students in the online environment to increase enrollment, retention and satisfaction."

AC Online recently identified the colleges and universities in North Carolina with the most affordable online degree programs. AC Online focused specifically on distance learning options from public and private non-profit institutions with full accreditation.

"For-profit schools no longer dominate the distance-learning landscape," said Dan Schuessler, founder and CEO of AC Online. "So many of today's top universities have added full online degree programs to their catalogs, making it much easier for non-traditional students to receive a quality education."

Opponents of for-profit distance learning have cited both quality and affordability as drawbacks of online model. Yet over the last few years, traditional colleges and universities with proven quality have made online programs accessible via discounted tuition and assistance programs.

"Offering students great online programs is only half the battle," said Schuessler. "The colleges on our list offer students quality, flexibility and affordability."

Founded in 1867, FSU is the second-oldest public institution in North Carolina. It offers nearly 60 degrees in the arts, sciences, business, and education at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. It serves a student body of more than 6,100 students and has a faculty and staff of approximately 900.
