The Atlanta University Center - Robert W. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Atlanta University Center - Robert W. Woodruff Library is committed to displaying excellence in our delivery of service.  To continue our excellence in program and services, the library seeks a collaborative, innovative, focused leader to oversee the day to day management of mission centered operations, and provide leadership and direction for the delivery of library services.  As a member of the organization's management team, the Associate Library Director will have primary responsibility and oversight for the delivery and evaluation of instructional, research and access user services and for development and management of content collections and technical services, Digital Services department (DSD), and the Discovery and Access Services department (DAS).  for day to day operations, user service outcomes and for strategic guidance of the Collection and Content Management department (CCM), Digital Services department (DSD), and the Discovery and Access Services department (DAS).  The Associate Library Director will serve as a member of the organization's executive team and may facilitate meetings of the library's Faculty Advisory Council, Student Advisory Council, Scholarly Communications working group, Librarian's Promotion Committee and more.  The Associate Library Director works closely with faculty of the member institutions to advance the strategic priorities of the library.  This position may serve as a liaison for selected activities of the library's Board of Trustees.  This position reports to the CEO and Library Director and functions as the administrator-in-charge in the absence of the CEO and Library Director.  The incumbent is significantly engaged in the profession and has experience with non-profit governance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
?      Provides day to day oversight of multiple library departments within the technical and collection service areas and the public and research service areas
?      Participates in strategic planning, development of new initiatives, budgeting, resource and policy development, and governance
?      Assists the CEO/Library Director in the drafting and review of policy, budgeting, and planning
?      Responsible for development and execution of user policies and procedures
?      Sets agenda and conducts/facilitates meetings of staff, and with faculty
?      Participates in the line of approvals for purchasing and expenditures, key organizational projects and policies and procedures
?      Collaborates with the CEO/Library Director, managers, department and unit heads in staff recruitment and retention strategies
?      In conjunction with relevant library departments, builds and sustains partnerships with AUC member institutions and external organizations to increase the visibility and use of the library
?      Evaluate and reimagine library functions and services to best meet the needs of member institution constituents
?      Responsible for generating the Library reports and responses, in support of institutional and discipline based on accreditation  activities of the 4 member institutions
?      Collaborates with other managers on the planning and assessment of library-wide technology solutions
?      Contract reviews as appropriate to operations in public and technical services
?      Will work closely with the Library's management team to determine acceptable levels of risk for the organization
?      Lead or coordinate the project management of special activities of the library, especially as related to teaching, learning, research, and access to services
?      Draft and disseminate essential communications to staff and users.
?      Serve on faculty committees of member institutions as assigned
?      Actively engage in professional development, research, and publication/presentation of knowledge within the profession
?      Participate in grant development, implementation and oversight
?      Function as administrator-in-charge in the absence of CEO/Director

QUALIFICATIONS:
?      ALA-accredited master's degree in Library and Information Science
?      Five or more years in a supervisory role to include evaluation of other supervisors
?      Five or more years working in an academic library environment
?      Experience managing technology within higher education environment
?      Three or more years of experience working with technical services, and/or public services
?      An ability to articulate messaging in a manner that is engaging for a wide variety of audiences.
?      Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with diverse members of an academic and public community
?      Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and to communicate results using standard and innovative software and presentation styles
?      Ability to develop structures and workflows to maximize user benefits and operational efficiencies
?      Experience managing library operations to include resources and budgets
?      Ability to independently set priorities, adapt and drive change initiatives, and successfully manage projects

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Atlanta University Center - Robert W. Woodruff Library is committed to displaying excellence in our delivery of service and is known for transformative change in innovative services and programs.  This is evidenced by our library's recognition in the "university library" category for the 2016 ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries Award.  To continue our excellence in program and services, the library is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, knowledgeable, and efficient archivist to serve as the Library's Assistant Department Head of Archives Research Center and expand access to, and promotion of its archives, manuscripts and special collections.  The individual will assist the Head of the Archives Research Center in carrying-out the strategic goals of the department with a focus upon the department vision of becoming a premier destination archives.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the physical and intellectual control of the archives, manuscripts and special collections through appraisal, arrangement, description, and creation of finding aids; supervision of two FTE professional staff, interns, and processing and digitization projects; and assistance in developing policies, and the provision of reference and instructional services. The Assistant Department Head will also liaison with the Digital Services Unit, and participate in library-wide initiatives through committees, taskforces, and projects, including exhibitions.  In the absence of the Department Head, the Assistant Department Head provides oversight and coordination of daily services and operations. This position participates in evening and weekend work schedule rotations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

?      Accredited graduate degree in an appropriate discipline (Archives Management, Librarianship, History, or related area)

?      Formal archival training or certification as an archivist

?      Minimum of 3 years' experience processing archival and/or manuscript collections

?      Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience

?      Experience in project management, including planning, organizing and evaluating the work other staff

?      Demonstrated knowledge of current theories, trends, standards, and practices of archival  services in academic libraries, including DACS, MPLP, LCSH

WEBMASTER and MULTI-MEDIA SPECIALIST

POSITION SUMMARY
The Atlanta University Center - Robert W. Woodruff Library seeks a creative and detail-oriented Webmaster & Multimedia Specialist. This position reports to the Unit Head of E-Learning Technology and manages all aspects of the library's website and mobile app, including layout and design, routine maintenance, updates, collaborations with library staff, and serves as liaison with the library's website development company. Working with the E-Learning Technologies Unit, this position provides information assistance, customer service, and assists in the provision of training on use of emerging technologies to the Atlanta University Center faculty, staff, and students. This position will require evening and weekend work on a rotational basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the library's website, including performing routine maintenance and updates.

  • Develop and implement ideas about website layout and design.

  • Post approved content to the library's website via a content management system to include announcements, events, news stories, and job postings.

  • Coordinate and collaborate efforts related to the website with staff and an external website development company.

  • Manage the library's webmaster email account and respond to other public inquiries about the website as needed.

  • Perform routine quality assurance checks for website functionality and troubleshooting of all website content. Test library website for performance across browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices.

  • Train library staff on the website's content management system as needed.

  • Manage the Library's mobile app with Boopsie/DEMCO, including performing routine maintenance and updates.

  • Assist in creation of online tutorials for learning technologies, software and hardware.

  • Provide information assistance to users at service points on a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends.

  • Respond to phone, email, and in-person customer inquiries regarding Technology Design Studio services.

  • Schedule appointments for group study, audio-visual editing suites, and presentation-practice rooms.

  • Assist in providing training to AUC faculty, staff, students, and library staff with iMacs, PCs, and various software programs.

  • Assist in providing training to AUC faculty, staff, students, and library staff in the use of new learning technologies.

  • Collaborate with various library departments on projects involving multimedia production.

  • Assist with classroom and lecture capture setups in classrooms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired

  •   Two plus years of relevant website management experience
    
  •   Experience managing websites through content management systems (e.g. WordPress).
    
  •   Expertise in HTML and CSS (experience with PHP preferred).
    
  •   Ability to create and edit multimedia items (photo/video/audio production).
    
  •   Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    
  •   An attention to detail for quality assurance checks, including experience in copyediting
    
  •   Knowledge of web analytics and associated tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Piwik)
    
  •   Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Test library website for performance across browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices. * Train library staff on the website's content management system as needed. * Manage the Library's mobile app with Boopsie/DEMCO, including performing routine maintenance and updates. * Assist in creation of online tutorials for learning technologies, software and hardware. * Provide information assistance to users at service points on a rotating schedule, including evenings and weekends. * Respond to phone, email, and in-person customer inquiries regarding Technology Design Studio services. * Schedule appointments for group study, audio-visual editing suites, and presentation-practice rooms. * Assist in providing training to AUC faculty, staff, students, and library staff with iMacs, PCs, and various software programs. * Assist in providing training to AUC faculty, staff, students, and library staff in the use of new learning technologies. * Collaborate with various library departments on projects involving multimedia production. * Assist with classroom and lecture capture setups in classrooms. QUALIFICATIONS: * A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired * Two plus years of relevant website management experience * Experience managing websites through content management systems (e.g. WordPress). * Expertise in HTML and CSS (experience with PHP preferred). * Ability to create and edit multimedia items (photo/video/audio production). * Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. * An attention to detail for quality assurance checks, including experience in copyediting * Knowledge of web analytics and associated tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Piwik) * Excellent communication and teamwork skills * Strong customer service, troubleshooting and organizational skills * Ability to adapt to a changing work environment SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with experience; benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, company paid disability plans, company match retirement plan (TIAA-CREF).
