Subject: ARL Leadership Fellows application deadlines extended; new program schedule
HBCU Library Alliance members,
The past year has underscored the operational challenges and uncertainties that the pandemic continues to place on all of our institutions. These challenges have prevented emerging leaders at many of our institutions from applying for participation in the ARL Leadership Fellows program.
To help ensure equitable access to the Leadership Fellows program and to build a diverse and vibrant cohort, the application deadline for fellows has been extended to Friday, July 2, 2021. Fellows applications completed by the original March 8 deadline will remain active and will receive full consideration. You need take no further action to ensure full consideration of your application in the selection process.
The Leadership Fellows Task Force expects to complete the selection process and announce the membership of the next fellows cohort no later than Monday, August 23, 2021. The new cohort will participate in special programs during fall 2021, and start formal program sessions in January 2022. The content and programming for the cohort has not changed, and will extend through the calendar year. The cohort will graduate in December 2022.
Application instructions for the next cohort remain availablehttps://www.arl.org/how-to-apply-to-the-arl-leadership-fellows-program-cohort-2021-2022/ and the application portal will remain open through close of business on July 2, 2021. ARL does expect to provide financial assistance for some fellows to defray most or all of the program tuition costs if needed. ARL will share more information about how to apply for financial assistance in June.
If you have questions or concerns about the application process or any other aspect of the Leadership Fellows program, please don't hesitate to contact John E. Ulmschneider, program director, or Deborah R. Grayson, senior director, Leadership and Organizational Development, at leadershipfellows@arl.orgmailto:leadershipfellows@arl.org.
Thank you!
