Fayetteville State University News May 19, 2020 FSU's Hazard Mitigation Plan: Request for Survey Input The University of North Carolina System requires its member institutions to have a Hazard Mitigation Plan (HMP). An HMP involves identifying the natural and human-caused hazards to which the University is at risk; assessing the potential impacts of those hazards; developing goals, objectives, and actions to reduce impacts; and prioritizing and implementing mitigation actions. The HMP is used to develop mitigation projects in an effort to increase protection, preparedness and reduce possible damages from natural or man-made disasters when grant funding becomes available. These plans are approved by the North Carolina Emergency Management department (NCEM) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). To increase its resilience, Fayetteville State University will begin the process of reviewing and revising its current plan utilizing a multi-discipline committee representing various departments of the University. The committee will also begin preparing documentation for the 2020-2025 Hazard Mitigation Plan. One of the requirements to begin the revision process is to gather information from the committee and concerned parties. A survey has been developed to assist the committee with additional insights and information.
