ASU Hosts Cyber Security Awareness Workshop

Alabama State University's Small Business Development Center will give tips on how to avoid hackings and ransoms.

WHEN: Next Thursday (Oct. 19) from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

WHERE: ASU's Dunn-Oliver Acadome Banquet Room; rear of Acadome/1595 Robert C. Hatch Dr.

Assign a reporter to do a preview news story and cover the event next Thursday on what can only be called one of the most topical and important computer stories for any business, government entity or person as Alabama State University's acclaimed Small Business Development Center (SBDC) brings some incredible certified professionals to offer a free lunchtime workshop on CYBER SECURITY.

At this event led by experts who are certified in this field; have your reporters ask them questions for their story, and/or learn from their remarks about how ready is your news consumer's businesses when it comes to cyber security threats.

As you are aware, cyber attackers vary in target, motive, levels of organization, and technical capabilities; requiring public and private organizations to adopt ever-increasing measures to prevent cyber attacks. Just recently, you reported on Montgomery's county government being a victim of a cyber attack, which cost it thousands of dollars in a blackmail ransom crime scheme - report on this ASU event and help your news consumers to learn how to avoid this happening to their businesses!

WORKSHOP CYBER SECURITY TOPICS
This workshop is designed and led by a highly trained and certified professional that customizes cyber security solutions for a diversified group of federal and corporate clients.

Among the topics at the event will include:

  • Cyber Hygiene Awareness;
  • Being Careful with Links;
  • Strong Authentication;
  • Conducting Regular Backups;
  • Plus Famous Cyber Cases.

Upon completion of the three modules from attending ASU's free Cyber Workshops, a certificate will be provided validating the  training.
