SU grad Brig. Gen. Craig Crenshaw is up for promotion to Major General
Southern University graduate Brig. Gen. Craig Crenshaw has been nominated by President Barack Obama to receive a second star, promoting him to the rank of Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Crenshaw, 52, has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Southern. He is one of 10 military generals who are graduates of Southern. He is the only Marine among the generals. The other nine are from the U.S. Army.
The Pensacola, Fla., native was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Marines in 1984 through the NROTC Scholarship Program at SU. Crenshaw has a Master of Arts in Procurement and Acquisitions Management from Webster University, in St. Louis, a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.
Crenshaw is currently the assistant deputy commandant for Installations Logistics at headquarters Marine Corps. His nomination is before the Senate Armed Forces Services Committee where it must be approved before his second star can be pinned.
