Jonathan Muse Named Executive Director for External Programs and Continuing Education at Cheyney University

Jonathan Muse was appointed Executive Director for External Programs and Continuing Education at Cheyney University in August 2014. In this capacity, he has oversight responsibilities for Cheyney University, Center City, as well as leading efforts in expanding current and establishing new off-campus programs.

Muse recognizes the potential for the Center City location. "My vision for the Cheyney University Center City site is for the populations and programs to grow and serve as a real asset to the City of Philadelphia and Cheyney University students. There is enormous opportunity to diversify the academic offerings in Center City. We plan to provide students with meaningful education and training for the growing employment needs in our region."
Prior to coming to Cheyney, Muse was employed at Rutgers University, Camden Campus. Most recently, he served as an Assistant Dean and Academic Services Director at Rutgers, School of Business-Camden (RSBC) and was directly responsible for the production and provision of academic services outside of the classroom for the RSBC undergraduate program. He led the joint faculty-staff curriculum redesign committee to expand experiential learning opportunities and established minor programs of study for non-business students. Muse also initiated the creation of the off-campus Business Administration program and oversaw the establishment of many academic, registration, enrollment, academic standing, reinstatement policies, procedures and regulations. Prior to his appointment in the RSBC, he served as Assistant Dean in the Rutgers University, Camden College of Arts and Sciences (CCAS).
Muse has extensive experience in student recruitment, admissions, financial aid, academic advisement, student retention, academic counseling and career development. His efforts on statewide policy development committees resulted in the establishment of financial aid regulations and expansion of eligibility guidelines to provide financial assistance for part-time students and welfare to work recipients.
Cheyney University's Center City site is located on the atrium level at 701 Market Street. Graduate degree program courses, undergraduate degree completion courses through its Adult College at the Center City site and continuing education courses at the site offer professional growth opportunities.
