Lincoln University Music Professor Shines at Juilliard
Assistant Professor of Music Christine Limb recently participated in the Conducting Workshop for Music Educators: Inspiring Artistry in Music Education held at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. Dr. Limb was one of 40 conductors selected from an international pool of several hundred applicants.
Juilliard faculty members and renowned conductors offered a rigorous schedule of sessions in aspects of music education, including performance anxiety, composition, and expressive interpretation of musical symbols. "It was a privilege to learn from such experts. The experience was both amazing and humbling," said Limb. "I returned from Juilliard energized and ready to share what I have learned with our students."
Entering her fourth year as Coordinator of Music Education at Lincoln University, Limb's conducting experience includes the Santa Monica (California) College Concert Band, the Santa Monica (California) Youth Honor Orchestra , the Vienna (Austria) Honor Orchestra, and the Towson (Maryland) University Marching Band. Limb also conducted the operas "Treemonisha" and "Hansel and Gretel" at Lincoln University in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
Dr. Alvin Amos, Chair of the Department of Performing Arts, recommended Professor Limb for the conducting symposium at Julliard and notes her growth as an instructor.
"Her vast teaching and performance experience and her superior academic record are an excellent match for our department as we continue to advance the legacy of this 158 year old university," said Amos. "I am pleased that she is a part of our talented faculty."
