Cheyney University's ELC Lectures Series Presents Cheree Warrick, author of Creating a Business Plan that Actually Gets Financed, on October 22
On Wednesday, October 22, Cheree Warrick, author of Creating a Business Plan that Actually Gets Financed, will share her knowledge about business start-ups at Cheyney University's Entrepreneurial Leadership program. The free presentation, set for 6:30 pm in Cheyney's Marcus Foster Student Alumni Center Auditorium, is part of the University's 2014 Fall Entrepreneurial Leadership Center (ELC) Lectures Series.
Ms. Warrick wrote Creating a Business Plan that Actually Gets Financed for business owners to use as a handbook for raising capital and understanding exactly what banks and investors want to know before making a commitment to fund a company or program.
Her international experience in the financial arena spans the gamut from small, family owned firms to large corporations. In 2009, she left the corporate world to join her family's bookkeeping business. During her tenure there, the company decided to seek bank financing for business expansion. The President of the Bank said her business plan was one of the best he'd ever read. After receiving that compliment, Warwick decided to learn as much as she could about how companies position themselves to receive business financing.
Due to her financial knowledge and personable style, she is sought after as a speaker at business gatherings. She has authored a popular column in the Washington Business Journal, and has managed the annual Vienna Tysons Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. Warrick received a Bachelor's degree in International Business from American University and a Master's degree in Finance from George Washington University.
According to Ms. Warrick, "A great business plan is the cornerstone of a great business," contends Warrick. "When entrepreneurs take the time to properly strategize about their company and write down a simple business plan, even if it's just one page, they improve their chances of success exponentially. If we want to succeed in business, we need to create strong business plans - what I call 'investable' business plans. Success in business is similar to success in life. Successful people not only visualize their success but they plan for success."
