As the Ferguson Commission's report is made public today, the issue of police practices in and around St. Louis continues to capture local and national attention.  The differences between policing African Americans versus other members of the community will be included in the discussion by a panel convened in observance of Constitution Day - Thursday, September 17 at 9:30 a.m. on the Harris-Stowe campus.

Harris-Stowe State University Hosts Constitution Day Panel
on Policing the African American Community

WHO:                        The College of Arts & Sciences Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Harris-Stowe State University. The panel features:

Karen J. Aroesty, regional director of the Anti-Defamation League Missouri/Southern Illinois;

Jerryl Christmas, defense attorney for the Mansur Ball-Bey Family

Adolphus Pruitt II, president of the St. Louis City NAACP; and

Sgt. Heather Taylor, police officer, City of St. Louis

Dr. Sudarsan Kant, assistant professor of Political Science at Harris-Stowe, will moderate the panel.

WHAT:                      Harris-Stowe State University hosts an event each year to commemorate the national observance of Constitution Day - September 17. This year's distinguished panel of guest speakers will explore the theme "Equal Justice for All."  Topics include various aspects of policing the African American community.
