Colleagues,

I trust you're well and in good spirits.  Continue to practice an abundance of caution in all activities.  See messaging and link below inviting applications for the second cohort of fellows for the Mellon Foundation Fellowship for Diversity, Inclusion and Cultural Heritage.

Apply!

The Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Diversity, Inclusion & Cultural Heritage

Rare Book School's Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Diversity, Inclusion & Cultural Heritage invites applications for its second cohort of fellows (2021-2023). The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, 30 November 2020, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Fostering new models for diverse and inclusive cultural heritage programming, this fellowship seeks to advance multicultural collections through innovative curatorial practice and leadership. The fellowship will provide professional development opportunities for early- to mid-career professionals currently working in a special collections library, archive, or other cultural heritage institution located in the United States. Fellows will build connections with diverse communities and publics through a combination of strategic programming, outreach, advocacy, and training.

The selected fellows will identify with diverse racial or ethnic communities and/or work primarily with collections that document minority, immigrant, and non-Western cultural traditions. Individuals coming from or working primarily with other groups who have been historically excluded from the cultural record are also eligible (these include professionals who identify as LGBTQ+, professionals who come from low-income backgrounds, or professionals with disabilities). The fellowship includes tuition waivers for three Rare Book School courses, funding to attend the annual conference of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries, and an opportunity to participate in one cultural heritage field school. Fellows will receive funding to organize symposia at their home institutions, and fellows will also be given funds to attend conferences of their own choosing during their second and third years of participation in the program.

The Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Diversity, Inclusion & Cultural Heritage is committed to promoting career advancement for qualified individuals working with special collections, museum collections, archives, and/or other cultural artifacts. We warmly encourage prospective applicants to apply to this opportunity.
