4th Annual Frederick Douglass Debate Series: Fayetteville State University vs. Hampton University

On February 24, 2014, the Fayetteville State University Debate Team will host the 4th Annual Frederick Douglass Debate Series. In the first two years of the event, Fayetteville State debated against local rival Methodist University. In the 3rd year of the event, Fayetteville State University hosted Hampton University and this 4th series of debates will see FSU engaging in a rematch of last year's debates.

The Inaugural Frederick Douglass Debates featured on Equal Representation, Education, and Social Upheaval. The 3rd Annual Frederick Douglass Debates explored the topics of Abortion, Taxation, and Gun Control. The topics at this year's 4th Annual Frederick Douglass Debate Series event will be the Stand Your Ground law, religion and/or prayer in schools, and the Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obamacare).

The 4th Annual Frederick Douglass Debates will be held on February 24, 2014, at 11am in Seabrook Auditorium on the campus of Fayetteville State University. The event features a panel of three esteemed judges who will adjudicate the event: Mayor Chris Rey of Spring Lake, NC; Dr. Karla Holloway of Duke University, and Katherine Hudson of Legal Aid of North Carolina.

The debates are free and open to the public.
