Saint Augustine's College awarded $2.1 million from U.S. Department of Education
Saint Augustine's College will receive $2.1 million dollars from the United States Department of Education. These funds are awarded through Title III of the Higher Education Act of 1965. The program helps eligible historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to expand their capacity to serve students by providing funds to improve and strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability.
"This award will allow Saint Augustine's College to continue to ensure that our students have access to state of the art facilities and technology. The College will utilize these grants in the spirit of President Barack Obama's Executive Order by continuing to promote excellence, innovation and sustainability," said Saint Augustine's College President Dianne Boardley Suber.
The money will be used to recruit and support students in the teacher education program; upgrade and expand the College's technology services; enhance faculty development through participation in professional conferences and workshops; and provide first-year students with augmented student support services, which includes academic counseling and peer tutorial services.
