National Society of Collegiate Scholars Names Dr. Stanley Viltz to Community College Advisory Board

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) recently named Bennett College's Dr. Stanley Viltz, associate provost for student affairs, to its Community College Advisory Board.

Comprised of 17 professionals, the Advisory Board was established to promote continuing education among the nation's community college students.

"The NSCS Community College Advisory Board is comprised of a diverse group of individuals who were appointed to the Board because of their distinguished contributions in academia, workforce development, and non-profit management. Our organization and our members will benefit greatly from their expertise and service. Most of all, we want to help more community college students advance to four-year schools and we believe NCSC can play a bigger role in making that happen," says Dr. Brian K. Johnson, Vice President, Community College Division, NSCS.

Bestowed this distinguished honor because of her noted experience in higher education, Viltz anticipates great advancements from her membership. "I believe my participation on the NSCS Board will benefit Bennett because we are looking for ways to attract transfer students. I served for 32 years as a community college administrator before coming to Bennett, so I am well aware of the types of students that community colleges produce. I have encouraged students to consider HBCUs throughout my career, and this appointment affords me another opportunity to continue that effort," she added.

After graduating from high school at the impressive age of 15, Viltz completed both her bachelors and masters at the University of Southern California. She earned her Ed.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.

The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS) is an honors organization that recognizes and elevates high achievers. NSCS provides career and graduate school connections, leadership and service opportunities and offers nearly half a million dollars in scholarships annually. NSCS members are deeply committed to scholarship, leadership and service and as a result, are impacting their campus and local communities every day. For more information, visit www.nscs.org.
