Professor Receives Travel Grant to International Conference
by Timothy C. Ervin
An ASU professor and cancer researcher has been awarded a travel grant to attend one of the world's largest events in the field of immunology.

Dr. Manoj Mishra, associate professor of biology and director of the Cancer Biology Research and Training Program at Alabama State University, has been awarded a travel grant by the American Association of Immunologists (AAI) to attend the International Congress of the Immunology 2016 (ICI 2016).
The travel grant awards up to $2,500 for registration and travel expenses associated with attending the ICI, which will be held August 20 - 26 in Melbourne, Australia. Mishra will present a research abstract during the event.
Mishra said being able to attend and give a presentation at the ICI will continue to help put ASU on the global map in the area of cancer research.
"This is a great opportunity to showcase cancer research done at ASU and present it to a global audience," Mishra said.
ICI 2016 will provide an environment for researchers to share new findings, report clinical advances, explore new career opportunities and establish collaborations. It also will provide a venue to host public lectures and engage with the media to report new scientific advances.

About ICI
The International Congress of Immunology is the largest global event in the field of immunology. It is held every three years under the auspices of the International Union of Immunological Societies (IUIS). Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), Kobe (Japan) and Milan (Italy) hosted the three previous events, each with an attendance of more than 5,000 delegates.
