Greetings Colleagues,

Yesterday's Martin L. King, Jr. festivities reminded me of the importance of our community! In all you do, continue to be safe and practice an abundance of caution in all activities.

Exciting news to share!

CLIR Board Appointment

I'm pleased to share that I've accepted an appointment to the CLIR Board of Directors.  CLIR President Charles Henry reached out regarding Board service; it is with honor and gratitude that I represent the HBCU Library Alliance.

The HBCU Library Alliance/CLIR partnership is moving apace with the Creating Access project that aims to identify common barriers and visions for creating access to historic collections at HBCU libraries. Funded by the Andrew W. Mellon foundation, this planning grant will lay the foundation for improving access to hidden unique archival materials at HBCUs.

Interviews are well underway for the HBCU Library Alliance/CLIR Material Memory Season 3 Podcast series. CLIR colleague Sharon Burney shares that the podcast interviews are going exceptionally well with informative and enlightening conversation. Interviews should be completed in late Spring. Of the six participating institutions, interviews with Ida Jones at Morgan State University (MD), Erika Witt at Southern University New Orleans and Dana Chandler at Tuskegee University (AL) have been completed.  In addition to library interviews, both Board chair Monika Rhue and I will interview for this series.

EdFarm Partnership

The HBCU Library Alliance has entered into partnership with EdFarm<edfarm.org>! As the HBCU Library Alliance continues its transformation, the partnership with EdFarm brings innovation to HBCU Library Alliance programs and services.  Board chair Monika Rhue, Johnson C. Smith University (NC), Treasurer Tina Rollins, Hampton University (VA) and I had the pleasure of meeting with EdFarm CEO Waymond Jackson and Director of Strategic Actions Inga Anderson. We were pleased to share the important work of the HBCU Library Alliance and learn about EdFarm, activities of the Propel Center, and their initiatives to equip educators and communities with state-of-the-art tools to support active learning.  We look forward, with eager anticipation, to a partnership with EdFarm to strengthen the HBCU Library Alliance.

Stay tuned!

Sandra
