Central State President appointed to NCAA Division II Presidents Council
President Cynthia Jackson-Hammond has been selected by the NCAA to serve on the Division II Presidents Council.
Jackson-Hammond will serve on the highest-ranking governing body in NCAA Division II, assisting in the formation of policy and the future direction of NCAA Division II. The first CSU President to serve on the council in the 127 year history of the University, Dr. Jackson-Hammond looks forward to the opportunity to work with other college and university administrators to further increase the well-being of NCAA
"I am completely humbled by my selection to the NCAA Division II Presidents Council and I am looking forward to serving our member institutions in this capacity," said President Jackson-Hammond.
The NCAA Division II Presidents Council is comprised of 16 presidents or chancellors from active Division II members from around the association. The members of the council continue to be actively engaged in a national project to enhance the public recognition and appreciation for Division II colleges and universities.
The responsibilities of the council include ratifying, amending or rescinding actions of the Division II Management Council, developing and approving budgets and expenditures, and implementing policies and procedures pertaining to Division II athletics. Matters relative to legislation, finance and committee structure fall under the purview of the council as well.
Jackson-Hammond will serve as the NCAA Region III representative. Her term will begin in April of 2015. Members of the Presidents Council serve four-year terms.
