DR. JAFFUS HARDRICK, PRESIDENT, FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY (FMU), HOSTS THE BEACON COUNCIL’S AVIATION COMMITTEE

On Friday, February 14, Dr. Jaffus Hardrick, hosted a group of 147 attendees, who are members of the Beacon Council, along with airline executives and aviation personnel from Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. Panelists represented local, national and international airlines. As a recent appointee to the Beacon Council’s Executive Committee for Aviation, Dr. Hardrick anticipates this meeting was groundbreaking for FMU.

“Several attendees said they had never visited Florida Memorial University’s campus before, and now they are aware of our aviation capabilities and opportunities offered through FMU’s aeronautical department,” said Dr. Hardrick. Two panels were offered, where conversations ranged from consumer trends, and future airport design, to the power of internships, which potentially lead to valuable jobs. Afterwards, several attendees toured FMU’s aviation department, which included reviewing classroom flight simulators and the air traffic control tower.
