Rust Races to Meet Anonymous Donor’s $3 Million ‘Challenge’ Gift
An anonymous donor has pledged $3 million dollars to Rust College, but school officials say the would-be largest gift in its history won’t come in unless Rust can raise $190,000 by December 28 from non-governmental sources. From a release issued by the school this afternoon:
“In order to receive the $3 million gift, the college must raise $750,000 from non-government sources, i.e. alumni, churches, foundations and individuals, by December 28, 2011. For the last 10 days, the College has been busy contacting supporters (alumni, friends, donors, and club leaders) in regards to the gift. Today the College is publicly announcing the gift and is pleased to announce that $560,000 has been raised.
Rust President David Beckley says that he expects the college to make the goal by the Christmas break.
