TSU President Glover Featured in 2016 Black History HBCU Calendar
Tennessee State University President Glenda Glover is one of 13 leaders and visionaries in education, medicine, law, sports, corporate management and entertainment featured in the 2016 Black History HBCU Calendar & Resource Guide.
The calendar, a national fundraising vehicle for Historically Black Colleges and Universities now in its 10th year, features individuals and trailblazers who have made "outstanding" contributions in their fields.
"I am honored to be among these great individuals to be featured in such a prestigious publication," Glover said. "It's something I will always cherish."
Glover joins the likes of Dorothy Buchanan Wilson, international president of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.; tennis star Serena Williams; multiple award-winning actresses Taraji P. Henson; and Dr. Ronald A. Johnson, president of Clark Atlanta University, among others, featured in the calendar
As a fundraising instrument, the Calendar and Resource Guide has helped to contribute "much-needed" funds to schools throughout the country. It serves as a resource for students and parents.
Eloise Abernathy Alexis, associate vice president for Institutional Advancement at TSU, said featuring Dr. Glover is an opportunity to promote the university's offerings and programs across the nation.
"The 2016 Black History HBCU Calendar showcases the academic excellence and leadership legacy of Tennessee State University and other noted Historically Black Colleges and Universities," Alexis said. "In addition to promoting visibility among prospective students and pride among HBCU alumni, this effort will provide a scholarship resource to which students can go when financial need and overwhelming educational debt threaten their quest for a diploma."
The calendar, which is on now available across the nation, can be purchased onlinehttp://donate.akaeaf.org/page.redir?target=http%3a%2f%2fblackhistoryhbcu.com%2fAKA1%2f&srcid=10002&srctid=1&erid=764392&trid=48e957c3-f6a9-4890-b55f-34a994ecc485 and at Walgreens stores.
