Greetings Colleagues,

I trust you're well.  Today I'm celebrating Vonetta Flowers, an exceptional athlete and the first African-American athlete from any country to win an Olympic Winter gold medal.  Born in 1973 in Birmingham, Alabama, Flowers was the first person in her family to go to college, graduating in 1997 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a degree in physical education. In the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City Utah, Flowers won the Gold Medal for Bobsledding. In December 2010, she was elected to the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

Free Live Webinar: Open Educational Resources: SUNO in the Movement - Thursday, February 25, 2:00 ET

Description: Have you heard of Open Educational Resources (OERs)? They are gaining momentum in the University/College setting. These freely accessible documents and media are useful for teaching, learning, and research purposes. Last year my colleague Mary Jo Fayoyin at Savannah State University (GA) shared her efforts at promoting OER's.  Southern University New Orleans is working to join the movement. Spend an hour with me as I share what OER's can do for your library, University/College, and students. Hear why we are pushing for OER's at Southern University New Orleans, our challenges, successes and failures with getting OER's adopted.

Learning Outcomes: At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to share knowledge on Open Educational Resources and identify strategies to engage faculty in using Open Education Resources as a substitute for textbooks.

Instructor: Jacquie Keleher is an Assistant Professor and Electronic Resources/Government Documents Librarian at Southern University New Orleans. She has worked at Southern University New Orleans since 2009 and held various positions within the library during her tenure. Her research interests include Open Educational Resources (OER's), Disaster Recovery and Diversity in Librarianship.

Registration: Paste this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Q82QDHQ into your address bar and register no later than Tuesday, February 23rd. Log-in instructions will get forwarded on Wednesday, February 24th.
Stay tuned!
