JSU makes COVID-19 adjustments for spring

In light of the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, further compounded by the Omicron variant, we are making adjustments to the start of the Spring 2022 semester. Please understand that your health and safety remain our priority. Therefore, please note the following modifications:

Virtual Learning

Beginning Monday, January 10, 2022, faculty will teach all in-person courses in an online synchronous format until Sunday, January 23, 2022. In-person course options will resume on Monday, January 24, 2022. The JSUOnline courses will follow the JSUOnline calendar with no changes. In addition, computer labs will be available for students who need access to technology. A listing of computer lab locations will be forthcoming. Remember to communicate with your advisors and professors about any needs or concerns.

Negative PCR Test

All returning students and guests must provide proof of a negative PCR test before moving into on-campus housing. Test results must be dated within three (3) days of your arrival date. Students may only have two (2) guests to assist with move-in. Again, all guests for move-in must have proof of a negative PCR test. Please note, Student Affairs will send additional communications with Move-in Day details.

Masks and Social Distancing

Masks continue to be required on all JSU sites, including common areas, classrooms, and other indoor spaces. Masks are available for all JSU students. We also ask you to practice social distancing at all times.

Vaccinations

We strongly encourage vaccinations and boosters. As a reminder, we have partnered with Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health to offer vaccinations and boosters every Tuesday at One University Place, Suite 6. Monitor your emails and JSU communications for exact vaccination dates and times. Help us remain safe by doing your part.

JSU Safe App

Additionally, the JSU Safe app is the official safety app of Jackson State University. JSU Safe provides you with important safety alerts and notifications while giving you instant access to various public safety resources. Please download this app in Google Play or the Apple Store.

It is important that we all take the necessary steps to protect our campus community. Please continue to monitor your JSU email for updates. We look forward to a successful spring semester.
