Bowie State hosts technology conference for second year
by Virginia Terhune
Starting today through Saturday, Bowie State University will host the annual Humanities and Technology Association Conference, which draws scholars to talk about the effects of technology, including its effects on politics and women and its influence in Africa.

By hosting the conference, Bowie State students and faculty have a chance to participate in the conference as panelists, presenters and attendees.

Eight of the presenters are faculty and students from Bowie State, according to a university news release.

Scheduled are 18 panels covering four areas: philosophical, political and ethical dimensions; technology and social life; representations of technology; and technology and education.

George Sochan, associate professor in the Department of History and Government at Bowie State, serves as chair of the conference.

The Humanities and Technology Association, based at Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y., was founded in 1978 to promote cultural interactions between the humanities, technology, science and engineering.

Fred Mills, professor of philosophy at Bowie State, is also the editor of the Humanities and Technology Association journal, the Humanities and Technology Review.
