B-CU Hosts Young Fathers Conference on February 27-28

Bethune-Cookman University will host and is a sponsor of the second annual Teen and Young Fatherhood Conference to be held Feb. 27 and 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The conference will address issues faced by fathers ages 14 to 24. Powerful speakers and life-changing workshops will focus on innovative teen fathers' programming, proven parenting techniques, unique obstacles that teen fathers face in education, legal issues, mental health and identifying employment resources.

Conference speakers include Haki Nkrumah, founder and CEO of Young Fathers of Central Father. The organization provides young fathers under the age of 24 with supportive, community-based resources to help them actively participate in the lives of their children and families to strengthen their communities.

Other speakers include Marivette Gonzalez, a family law attorney, Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry, Dr. Dwaun Warmack, B-CU senior vice president of administration and student services and Dr. Claudette McFadden, B-CU senior policy advisor.
