Fisk University Continues Search For President
Fisk University is one of the oldest historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the United States and Nashville's first university. Founded in 1866, Fisk University celebrates its sesquicentennial in 2016. For over 140 years Fisk University has provided an environment which has nurtured and challenged the minds of young people.
U.S. News & World Report's Top Colleges and Universities, 2011, ranked Fisk in tier one at #122 of more than 1,400 Liberal Arts Institutions in the United States. For the 19th consecutive year, the Princeton Review included Fisk on its 2011 list of "The Best 373 Colleges" in the nation and on its list of "The Best Southeastern Colleges."
With the recently announced retirement of President Hazel O'Leary, Fisk is now seeking its next President. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the President of Fisk University will provide leadership and strategic direction while maintaining excellence in all academic programs. The President will establish, evaluate, and maintain a climate that encourages the development and retention of exceptional talent; a high level of morale and engagement; effective working relations; a high quality service culture; and an environment with administration and academic vision.
Applicants should possess a terminal degree (preferred) and a distinguished record of senior leadership experience and professional achievement in higher education or an equivalent level of functional responsibility in a related setting such as business, government or nonprofit enterprises. A proven ability to achieve results in fundraising is required. In addition, we are seeking an individual with an appreciation and commitment to HBCUs and who understands the heritage, sense of pride and validation inherent in these institutions.
Please submit all applications and nominations electronically to Diversified Search at fiskpresident@divsearch.commailto:fiskpresident@divsearch.com or via fax at 404-814-2339. Our mailing address is 950 E. Paces Ferry Road, NE, Suite 3375, Atlanta, GA 30326.
