Dear HBCU Library Alliance Members,
We are excited to announce the first stage of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation-funded HBCU Photographic Preservation Project. Last month you were notified about this project which is conducted in partnership with LYRASIS, the HBCU Library Alliance, Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), University of Delaware Art Conservation Department, and Image Permanence Institute.
The first step in this project is a survey of the photographic collections of HBCU institutions to assess the scope, quantity, significance, use, and needs of these collections. The results of the survey will raise awareness of the state of these historic collections.
The data gathered will also be used to identify institutions who will be invited to apply to participate in the future activities of the Photographic Preservation Project. This project includes grant monies, consultations, training, and environmental assessments for ten HBCU institutions that have significant photographic collections in need of preservation.
The survey is being administered online at the Zoomerang.com website. Attached to this email is a Word document copy of the survey. Please review the questions in this document before logging into Zoomerang to complete the survey.
Contact Steve Eberhardt (steve.eberhardt@lyrasis.orgmailto:steve.eberhardt@lyrasis.org) at LYRASIS if you or your staff have any questions or problems.
