SUNO’s Enrollment Increases for the Spring 2016 Semester
According to final enrollment figures, 2,500 students have registered for the 2016 spring semester at Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO). This represents a one percent increase from the 2,455 students officially enrolled in Spring 2015.
“We are pleased to see an increase in our Spring enrollment from the past year,” said SUNO Chancellor Victor Ukpolo. “Our admissions team, faculty and staff continue to work diligently to grow our enrollment by focusing on retention and working with students to pre-register for classes.”
Innovative programs, such as SUSLA Connect, has helped SUNO increase its enrollment. There currently are 168 students enrolled in the program, which allows students to be admitted to the two-year program at Southern University-Shreveport (SUSLA) and take SUSLA classes while on SUNO’s campus. The expectation is that these students will transfer to SUNO once they earn the required 12 college credits for admission.
“SUSLA Connect not only helps our enrollment grow, but it also allows us to reach out to students who have the potential to be successful in a four-year college setting,” said Leatrice Latimore, assistant vice chancellor of Enrollment Management
