Students Get Opportunity to Study in South Korea
By Tina Joly
Alabama State University's Center for Leadership and Public Policy is sponsoring a trip for ASU students to study abroad in Korea.
Alabama State University students will have an opportunity to immerse themselves in Korean culture this summer during a study abroad trip to South Korea.
Students selected for this unique opportunity will participate in a four-week program in July at The University of Ulsan (UOU) in South Korea.
In addition to traditional lectures, the program includes field trips to Hyundai manufacturing sites, a trip to a Buddhist mountain retreat, a home stay for a weekend with a Korean family, and visits to government institutions, including the presidential palace in Seoul.
"Participation in this program in Korean culture will provide ASU students with an outstanding international experience that should serve them well if they aspire to careers in the international arena," said Dr. Thomas Vocino, executive director of ASU's Center for Leadership and Public Policy, which is sponsoring the program.
To apply, current ASU students must submit a letter indicating how study in South Korea will benefit them in terms of professional development, an ASU transcript (an unofficial copy is acceptable), and a current resume.
The application packet should be sent by March 18 to:

A committee of ASU faculty and administrators will select seven students for the program.
