Colleagues,
Registration is now open for our Collections Care Basics webinar, the second 90-minute webinar of the Building Capacity series, scheduled Wednesday, August 14, at 10:00 ET. Registration will close for this webinar on Tuesday, August 13, at noon.
As briefly discussed at our 2018 Membership Meeting, "Building Capacity-HBCU" is a five-year program to address preservation and conservation needs at the special collections located at our member libraries. Through this program, your library will be able to competitively request funding for preservation planning documents, collection surveys, treatment and rehousing services, and educational programs.
The Collections Care Basics webinar will provide an overview of the collections care concerns that the Advisory Committee will consider when reviewing applications for grants. As stressed during the first webinar, the preservation needs assessment is THE essential tool in thoughtful preservation planning.
This webinar will also address the areas examined in the preservation needs assessment process, noting the ten agents of deterioration and strategies for mitigating their effects. Dyani Feige, Director of Preservation Services at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, will lead the webinar.
To register, access this survey monkey link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TK5WYLS and input the requested information. There is no limit to the number of colleagues who may attend from your library.
The last two webinars in this series will be Know Your Collections: Collections Management on August 27 at 10:00 ET. and Building Momentum: Promoting Your Collections on September 12 at 10:00 ET.
The July 31st Introduction to Building Capacity recording is attached to this e-mail for your review.
