UNIVERSITY WELLNESS AND PARKS MULTI-PURPOSE CENTER CONTRACT AWARDED

Jefferson City, MO- Lincoln University and Jefferson City Parks and Recreation have awarded Sircal Contracting with the construction contract for the University Wellness and Parks Multi-Purpose Recreation Center.  Sircal offered the lowest and best bid in terms of pricing and completion schedule, as well as minority and women business enterprise participation.  The contract, including base bid, alternates and negotiated revisions, is $11,569,803.  Both Lincoln University and Jefferson City Parks and Recreation will contribute additional resources to provide a basic and functional facility to benefit the community and the university.  The two partners say the awarding of the contract is a major stride toward seeing the project come to fruition.

"Both Lincoln University and Jefferson City Parks and Recreation have worked hard to see this project become a reality and this contract puts us so close to that," says Dr. Kevin D. Rome, President of Lincoln University.

Denise Chapel, President of the Jefferson City Parks Commission echoes Rome's comments.  "After many long hours of planning, the awarding of this contract means this much needed facility is coming to our community in the not too distant future."

The University Wellness and Parks Multi-Purpose Recreation Center will include basketball/volleyball courts, an elevated three-lane walking track, classrooms/meetings rooms, common/concessions areas and fitness spaces.  Construction is slated to be substantially complete by January 30, 2017.
