First Addictive Behaviors Counseling Class To Graduate Under New Name
The Addictive Behaviors Counseling and Prevention Program of Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) is celebrating its 2015 Graduates, the program's first graduating class since it changed its name in 2014.
Formerly, the Substance Abuse Counseling Program, the name change reflects the public health perspective of the program, which is focused on the treatment and prevention of addictive behaviors.
Eighteen students will receive the Bachelor of Science degree and 29 students will receive the Associate of Arts degree. The presentation of the program's first graduating class is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 at the SUNO Conference Center.
Among the graduates are registered addiction counselors and counselors-in training, who are certified by the Louisiana Addictive Disorders Regulatory Authority (ADRA).
