Talladega College President Dr. Gregory J. Vincent was honored during the institution's recent One Community Breakfast, which highlighted the enduring value of relationships within communities.

"Dr. Vincent is focused on student success. He is committed to his leadership team, faculty and staff, and he is working hard to make sure they have the resources they need to fulfill the mission here at Talladega College," said Alabama Power Company Vice President of Eastern Market Terry Smiley, who serves on the Talladega College Board of Trustees. "Dr. Vincent understands the importance of relationships, collaboration, and community - one community. We are very fortunate to have this great leader here at Talladega College, in our region and in our state."

Mr. Smiley, who introduced Dr. Vincent at the luncheon, praised him for being "a man of high character and integrity."

During the luncheon, Dr. Vincent reflected upon his commitment to honoring the mission and traditions of Talladega College while also aggressively marketing the institution. He applauded student leaders, alumni, board members, leadership team members, faculty and staff, sponsors, and donors for their dedication, and shared how his faith, family and upbringing shaped his understanding of community.

"Community, for me, is not some academic enterprise. It is something that is real, deep and authentic. So when we talk about one community, that's something that is in my DNA. It is who I am," he stated.

Program participants included City Manager Seddrick Hill Sr., who served as master of ceremonies; Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Strategic Initiatives and Communications Dr. Kristie Kenney, who delivered a welcome from Talladega College; and Mayor Timothy Ragland, J.D., who delivered a welcome from the City of Talladega.  There was also an instrumental selection from Dr. Mi Kyung Hwang and remarks from Comprehensive Solutions Account Manager Jeffrey Workman from TRANE, the exclusive event sponsor.

The breakfast was one of several events leading up to Dr. Vincent's investiture as the college's 21st president, which will take place on Friday, November 4, 10 a.m., in the Dr. Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center Arena at Talladega College.
