Mayor George Flaggs Jr. scheduled to participate in Alcorn’s Black History Series

Alcorn State University’s Office of Pre-Professional and Honors Curriculum programs invite students, faculty and staff to a lecture on Black History.

The programs will host the Black History Lecture Series featuring the Mayor of the City of Vicksburg, Mississippi, the Honorable George Flaggs Jr., Thursday, Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. in the J. D. Boyd Library Auditorium. The theme for the program is “Succeeding through Adversity.”

Dr. Wandra Arrington, assistant director of the Honors Curriculum Program, shed light on the purpose of the lecture.

“The program will be an examination of our adversity, challenges and outcomes,” said Arrington. “We will look at various obstacles and challenges we have faced over the years and the many more to come such as education, jobs and economic development.”
