Harris-Stowe State University Celebrates the Inauguration of its
19th President Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack

The St. Louis community is invited to a week of diverse events to mark the occasion

ST. LOUIS, MO (April 8, 2015) - Harris-Stowe State University (HSSU) is planning a variety of events to celebrate the inauguration of Dr. Dwaun J. Warmack, the university's 19th president. His installation ceremony will take place at 10 a.m., Friday, April 17, in the Main Auditorium on the Harris-Stowe campus at 3026 Laclede Ave. in midtown St. Louis.

The HSSU Board of Regents, administration, faculty, staff and students invite the St. Louis community to join in the inaugural events, which kick off on Saturday, April 11 with a 5K Walk/Run on the main campus quad. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with the walk/run starting at      8 a.m. Participants may register online at www.hssu.eduhttp://www.hssu.edu or on site. There is a $15 fee.

Another featured inaugural event is a symposium exploring the relevancy of HBCUs in today's educational landscape. Dr. Warmack will lead a panel of innovative and dynamic university presidents including:  Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis, Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens, Fla.; Dr. Kevin D. Rome, Sr., Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Mo. and Dr. Kent J. Smith, Jr., Langston University in Oklahoma City. The symposium, moderated by award-winning journalist Sharon Stevens, will take place from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 16 at the Emerson Performance Center, Bank of America Theater at HSSU. The symposium is free and open to the public.
