POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
JOB TITLE:  Librarian, Student Success/Outreach - Instructor

JOB SUMMARY
Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for Librarian, Student Success/Outreach - Instructor. This position leads the Library's efforts in providing access to resources and programming to promote retention, progression, and graduation. Implements and expands academic engagement programs; uses, develops, and implements new technologies and service models to provide resources and academic programming for student success regardless of the location of student or resources. In collaboration with other library faculty, shares responsibilities for reference services; serves as liaison to academic departments; engages in scholarship and service. Creates marketing materials and implements outreach including mobile library activities and programs that promote library services and resources; provides leadership and management of the course reserves and interlibrary loan (including GilExpress) services. In collaboration with liaison librarians, prepares, develops, and updates instructional materials (tutorials, research guides, and finding aids); assists in supporting the library's social media efforts. Assists in developing and coordinating virtual reference services; participates in reference services and staffing the reference desk. Assists in providing library instruction to First Year Students; seeks funding through grants and other funding opportunities. Serves on library and university committees; participates in local, state, and national library/professional organizations. May be directed to perform job related tasks other than those specifically delineated in this description. Salary negotiable, commensurate with qualifications and experience; competitive benefits program.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree (ALA accredited) in Library or Information Science with teaching experience and strong presentation skills preferably in a college setting. Experience with Springshare tools, production software (Camtasia, Canvas), and social media tools; demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment; public relations and promotional ability. Supervisory experience preferred. Background and or credit check may be required.
