Johnson C. Smith University nabs two nominations for the 2018-19 HBCU Digest Awards
Congratulations are in order for Johnson C. Smith University associate professor of political science, Dr. Terza Lima-Neves and the student-run sustainability village. Lima-Neves, nominated for HBCU Female Faculty of the Year Award, announced her nomination on Twitter, saying "Yo! I just found out that I'm a finalist for HBCU Female Faculty of the Year Award by HBCU Digest. I can't believe it. Thank you."

The sustainability village, nominated for best student organization, integrates academic coursework, research, service learning and experiential education opportunities to enhance student understanding of sustainable development, community food systems and alternative lifestyles that promote conservation.

Winners will be announced August 2, 2019 at an awards ceremony at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture in downtown Baltimore.
