Gadsden State Featured on National TV
Gadsden State Community College will be featured on the national segment "Today in America." The show, hosted by television sports analyst and former NFL quarterback Terry Bradshaw, traditionally reports on topics concerning business and industry, education, health and environmental issues. Gadsden State was chosen for the feature because of their workforce development education and unique and successful partnerships with businesses and industries.
The segment was shown earlier this year in the South Carolina market but will now be viewed by Comcast and Charter subscribers in the Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi and Texas markets.
The feature, which includes some of Gadsden State's workforce development programs and community partnerships, will air on the Sports Southeast channel. Highlighted in the segment is the partnership with the City of Gadsden and Mayor Sherman Guyton. President Raymond Staats also featured in the segment expressed, "We are pleased to be a part of this show and proud of the partnerships that are crucial to the success of our workforce development programs. This is a great opportunity to share our story with the world concerning the fantastic programs we offer and remind others that the Alabama Community College System remains a vital economic development force in our state and throughout the nation."
Approximately 3,000 students participate in technical and skilled training programs at Gadsden State. Tim Green, dean of technical education and workforce development, pointed out that this television special will most likely improve the overall perception of today's technical programs. Green stated, "Viewers will see that our state-of-the-art programs, which meet or exceed industry standards, equip our students with globally competitive skills. The community partnerships we continue to embrace have a positive impact on our communities today and in the future."
The show dates and times are:
Monday, August 13, 11:30 a.m. / Sunday, August 19, 7:30 a.m.
Saturday, August 25, 7:00 a.m. / Saturday, September 1, 7:00 a.m.
