[cid:image004.jpg@01D2AED7.7652DF70]Jefferson City, MO- Dr. Mara Aruguete, Professor of Psychology, has been recognized with the 2017 Governor's Award for Excellence in Education.  The award honors faculty members from across the state.  Faculty from 13 institutions were honored by Governor Eric Greitens during a luncheon on the Lincoln University campus, which was organized by the Missouri Council on Public Higher Education as part of their annual meeting activities.

Aruguete has served Lincoln University for two decades.  Known for providing strong encouragement and support to her students, she serves as a mentor to many as they move from completing research in her class to presenting during professional meetings the same information that was once their coursework. Her skill at grant writing has helped fund many research projects that provide students with design, collection, analytical and reporting skills.  In addition, Aruguete has written 24 articles with her students serving as co-authors.  Her expertise and passion for providing students with the best instruction has led many of them to success in graduate school and their later careers.

Aruguete earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona, and both her master and doctorate from the University of California-Davis.
