North Carolina Central University is pleased to announce that Dr. Debbie G. Thomas has been appointed associate provost and associate vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, effective July 1, 2010. Reporting directly to NCCU's Provost Kwesi Aggrey, Thomas' role will be to support the work conducted in the Office of Academic Affairs to ensure the quality of student learning by working collaboratively with deans, department chairs, and faculty to enhance teaching and learning throughout the university.
Thomas' experience includes more than seventeen years in higher education as both an academician and administrator. Thomas has served as associate provost for institutional effectiveness at Fisk University and as assistant to the vice chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Of her decision to accept the post at NCCU, Thomas said, "What better time to join the NCCU family than in its centennial year to help create the next 100 year legacy."
