HU to host 16th Annual Executive Leadership Summit for higher education leaders
Hampton University President Dr. William R. Harvey will host the 16th Annual Executive Leadership Summit at Hampton University on Nov. 2 - Nov. 4.

The Executive Leadership Summit was established as a means of reaching out to individuals at colleges, universities and other institutions who aspire to be executive leaders as well as those who seek professional retooling. "More than ever, today's world requires leaders to implement strategies that work," Harvey said. "The Executive Leadership Summit provides a forum for aspiring CEO's to learn from a diverse group of effective leaders who have achieved extraordinary results."

President Harvey has a broad perspective on critical challenges faced by those who lead and serve in executive positions at institutions of higher learning. He is extremely knowledgeable about the unique issues that are brought to bear at diverse, small and mid-sized comprehensive colleges and universities.

Harvey contributes much of his success as chief executive officer to ten fundamental leadership principles which now comprise the Harvey Executive Leadership Model.  At the Summit, Harvey will discuss his leadership principles which are; Vision, Academic Excellence, Innovation, Fiscal Conservatism, Work Ethic, Fairness, Academic Success, Team Building, Good Management, Courage, and Results.

In addition to Dr. Harvey, speakers for the 2016 Executive Leadership Summit include, Dr. Henry N. Tisdale, president Claflin University; Dr. Elwood L. Robinson, president of Winston-Salem State University; Dr. Lisa Coleman, chief diversity officer and special assistant to the president at Harvard University; Dr. Tashni-Ann Dubroy, president, Shaw University; Dr. Makola M. Abdullah, president of Virginia State University; Mr. W.L. "Bill" Thomas, Jr., associate vice president for governmental relations at Hampton University; and Mr. Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., president and ceo of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.  An interactive, pre-summit workshop will be conducted by Dr. Carolyn C.W. Hines and Mr. William A. Hines, Jr, co-owners of C.W. Hines and Associates, Incorporated, to help attendees determine their readiness to become successful executive leaders.

For 39 years, Harvey has demonstrated a strong commitment to the professional development leadership of others.  Seventeen individuals on Hampton University Administration Councils have been propelled into the position of president at diverse universities as well as other executive leadership positions within the corporate sector.

The Summit is one of the stellar programs offered through the William R. Harvey Leadership Institute.  It is all about "Passing the Executive Leadership Torch."
