Golf Tournament Nets $10,000 for Stillman Scholarships
A $10,000 check was presented to Stillman College President, Dr. Ernest McNealey, by the Stillman College Scholarship Golf Tournament Committee-Birmingham at Stillman's homecoming football game against Central State on Saturday, November 13 at Stillman Stadium. Representing the committee at the presentation were Gloria Dennard, Chair of the golf tournament planning committee and Al Denson, the tournament's award luncheon sponsor. The contribution came from funds raised at the golf tournament for scholarships for qualified Birmingham Area students who attend Stillman or are interested in attending Stillman.
Approximately 80 golfers, including Stillman alumni, friends and corporate supporters, participated in this event during the Stillman College /Miles College Labor Day Classic weekend of fun, friendly rivalry and fellowship on September 3.
The organizers of the golf tournament included co-chairs, Gloria Dennard and James Lewis, plus Alvin Washington, Arthur Bailey, Jordan Frazier, Leonard Smoot, Charlena Leonard Jackson, Linda Harris, Nikki Dennard, and Cora Williams.
