Harris-Stowe Implements First Health Care Management Advisory Board
ST. LOUIS, MO (May 21, 2012) - Harris-Stowe State University,
Anheuser-Busch School of Business, held its inaugural Health Care
Management Advisory Board meeting May 3, 2012.
Harris-Stowe can now add to its long list of accomplishments, being a
trendsetter in organizing the first Health Care Management advisory
board in history of the institution.
Harris-Stowe is proud to offer the only undergraduate Health Care
Management program in St. Louis that graduates students with a strong
emphasis in business. As such, Harris-Stowe's Health Care Management
program is charged with becoming a major force in the development of
health care business professionals with the ability to successfully
navigate a complex and diverse global environment and world economy.
Calvin Thomas, an alumnus of HSSU and assistant administrator for Barnes
Jewish West County Hospital BJC was elected chairperson and Ron M.
Present, health services consultant for Brown Smith Wallace LLC, was
named vice chairperson. Other members of the newly formed board bring
years of expertise in the health care field from universities,
hospitals, pharmaceuticals, government, insurance and non profit
organizations. These experts will assure the program curriculum is up to
date and that students are prepared for the health care profession. To
aid in program growth, the board will also focus on community
partnership development.
According to Dr. Fara Zakery, dean of the Anhueser-Busch School of
Business and Dr. Joyce Eisel, chairperson of the Health Care Management
program, the board members will assure the program achieve the vision
set out in the Health Care Management strategic plan. Additionally, the
board is working in all aspects of health care for both Missouri and
Illinois.
