Gala Support Reaching New Heights
One group of Alabama State University alumni accepted then exceeded a challenge to support the 2011 President's Gala: "A Great Moment in Time."
Support for the upcoming President's Gala is reaching a fever pitch as Alabama State University alumni go head-to-head in a friendly challenge to show support for their alma mater.
Members of the class of 1961 purchased a table for the President's Gala and challenged other classes, particularly the class of 1960, to do the same.
The class of 1960 not only heeded their call by purchasing a table, but also went beyond expectations when they committed to making an additional monetary donation to the University.
Zillah Fluker, ASU's associate vice president for Development, said the leadership team is excited to see this type of engagement from alumni.
"We are thrilled that our alumni are rising to the challenge and supporting the University and its programs," Fluker said. "This friendly rivalry between the classes shows that our alumni are stepping up to the plate to support the University financially."
Proceeds from this second annual Gala will be used to support the University's various programs and initiatives.
The black-tie formal event will take place July 22 at 7 p.m. in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
Tickets to the 2011 President's Gala: "A Great Moment in Time" can be purchased for $150 each. Supporters also may purchase tables or participate as corporate sponsors.
The official Gala website, www.asugala.com, has all of the latest information about the event, tickets and sponsorship opportunities. Payments can be made online.
