EPA and Clark Atlanta University to Sign Agreement

(ATLANTA – Oct. 20, 2010) On Thursday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Clark Atlanta University (CAU) will participate in a signing ceremony to support of the university’s efforts to become the flagship model of an academic institution that is environmentally sustainable in its campus infrastructure, its environmental policy, engineering and science curriculum.
WHO: EPA Region 4 Administrator, Gwendolyn Keyes Fleming; CAU President Carlton E. Brown; CAU Vice President for Research and Sponsored Programs, Dr. Marcus Shute; and Professor Olu Olatidoye, Ph.D., CAU’s Dual Degree Engineering Program, along with other University administrators and partners.

EPA recognizes the necessity for full participation by all citizens in environmental policy making, problem solving and sustainable practices. Therefore, EPA is endeavoring to encourage academic institutions which serve under-represented communities in developing a universe of well-qualified graduates interested in environmental careers.
Clark Atlanta University is a private, coeducational four-year university located in the historic heart of Atlanta. It is the largest of the nation’s 39-member UNCF institutions and one of only two private historically black colleges and universities designated by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Research University – High Research Activity.
