Coahoma to Recognize SkillsUSA Week, Feb 3-9

The Career and Technical Education division will recognize SkillsUSA Week, Feb. 3-9. With a designated week observed annually across the country, the SkillsUSA organization gets students ready for college and high-paying careers that are in demand.

The SkillsUSA organization of Coahoma Community College is comprised of student members pursuing education in a trade, industrial, training or technical program. This organization will be celebrated on both the state and local level with promotional activities and academic-based career-building skills for the workforce.

Advocacy Day - On Monday, Feb. 4, the SkillsUSA Team will inform the campus community of planned activities for the week via the CCC website. To make SkillsUSA Week official, banners will be displayed in the B. F. McLaurin Vocational-Technical Center and the Lee Flowers Building.

Member Outreach Day - On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Career Tech students will gain more insight into the organization with printed material. They will also be presented with complimentary goodie bags.

SkillsUSA boasts 330,000 plus members throughout the nation with a presence in more than 4,000 schools.

SkillsUSA Team members of Coahoma will travel to Jackson, Mississippi for the 2019 Mississippi State Championship, April 9-10, to represent Coahoma in trade-related competitions in culinary arts, masonry, carpentry, restaurant service, automotive refinishing and other categories.
