Dear HBCU Library Alliance members,

I trust all is well with you and your family. During these uncertain and challenging times, please continue to be safe.

Being physically distant requires us to create opportunities to communicate.  As a Board member, I feel the need to stay close to the community. It's so important now that we offer and receive encouragement, that we uplift and receive necessary support, that we take the time to listen. The HBCU community must carry on the longstanding tradition of nurturing.

To that end, the HBCU Library Alliance is introducing "Let's Connect - Member Voices." This 15-20 minute monthly virtual session allows our voices to be heard, and will feature a very brief Board update followed by reflections, concerns and news from members. Your voices are important as we move through this crisis.

Please join us on Thursday, May 21, 11:00 ET for the first Let's Connect - Member Voices gathering.  The session requires registration and will end no later than 11:20.  Please access this survey monkey link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/HJBGTZ8 and register no later than Tuesday, May 19. Registrants will receive a zoom link on Wednesday, May 20.

Confidentiality/Safe Space Guidelines are detailed below.

  1. This webinar is a confidential virtual space where attendees share ideas, opinions and concerns.

  2. Please practice professional courtesy and do not share confidential information discussed during this meeting with others outside of this space.

  3. Opinions and thoughts should be shared in a respectable tone and manner both verbally and in the chat box.

  4. The meeting organizer reserves the right to ask an attendee to leave the space if behavior or actions are displayed which do not adhere to the aforementioned guidelines.

Please reach out to me or Executive Director Phoenix if you have questions or need more information.

Take care,

Morgan Montgomery, Assistant Library Director
