Colleagues,

Registration is open for the first webinar in a four-part series marking the official launch of "Building Capacity-HBCUs." As you recall, the HBCU Library Alliance was awarded an NEH Challenge Grant for this program.

As briefly discussed at our 2018 Membership Meeting, "Building Capacity-HBCU" is a five-year program to address preservation and conservation needs at the special collections located at our member libraries. Through this program, your library will be able to competitively request funding for preservation planning documents, collection surveys, treatment and rehousing services, and educational programs.

Registration is now open for the first 90-minute webinar, scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, at 2 p.m. To register, access this survey monkey link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/296VQJ5 and input the requested information. There is no limit to the number of colleagues who may attend from your library. The deadline for registration for this webinar is Tuesday, July 30, at noon.

This first webinar, Introduction to "Building Capacity-HBCUs," will describe the goals of the five-year program, the schedule for applying for your proposed projects, and advice for developing competitive proposals. There will be time for responding to questions. The webinar will be led by our project partner Lee Price, Director of Development at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts, who has been very helpful with program development and fundraising on this very special and exciting initiative.

There are three additional webinars in this series: Collections Care Basics on August 14 at 10 a.m., Know Your Collections: Collections Management on August 27 at 10 a.m., and Building Momentum: Promoting Your Collections on September 12 at 10 a.m. Each webinar will be recorded and made available through the HBCU Library Alliance's website.

Please share this announcement as appropriate and let me know if you have questions or need additional information.

Stay tuned!

Sandra
